Introduction

A New York Times bestselling author, An Indie Next Pick, A National Public Radio, Vogue, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Globe and Mail Summer Reading Pick, A Winner of the Wellcome Trust Book Prize -- Having received worldwide attention, Turn of Mind is a stunning first novel, both literary and thriller, about a retired orthopedic surgeon with dementia. As the book opens, Dr. Jennifer White's best friend, Amanda, has been killed, and four of her fingers were surgically removed. Dr. White, the prime suspect, doesn't know if she did it. With unmatched patience and pulsating intensity, LaPlante brings us deep into a brilliant woman's deteriorating mind.

I liked the flow of the book, and feel it was not only well written but the characters had depth.

It was so insightful. Looking through the eyes of someone with Alzhiemers is sad and amazing at the same time. It will stick with me forever.
