Absolutely not! We've all had enough spam to last a lifetime (or two!). BookMovement isn't about to make your life more difficult by selling (or giving) your name and contact info to companies.
Part of our mandate at BookMovement is to protect the privacy of book clubs and their members. We started this site based on the insight, suggestions and feedback of book clubs and it was clear that privacy was one of their highest priorities.
So privacy is why we ask you to create a login (so you have a user name instead of your real name); privacy is why we made the club pages private; and privacy is a priority in how we conduct our giveaways.
When I create a Book Club Page and add my club members, will other members be able to see that page?
No, only the people you add to your member list will be able to see the contents of your Club Page, including your book selections, meetings, names, email address, street address and your discussions.
In the future, we may have a profile page for your club, which will be viewable by other members, but you and your club will have options about what you'd like displayed on that page, and be able to control what information you display.
How do you compile the Weekly Top Club Picks List?
We use an algorithm to compile the Top Club Picks List every week which takes into account member ratings, the number of book clubs and members reading a book that week, and amount of member ratings for that title.
Who is eligible to win free books?
BookMovement members who live in the Continental U.S. and belong to a book club are eligible to win our book giveaways for book clubs.
All BookMovement members are eligible to win our e-book giveaways and individual book giveaways.
How do the giveaways work?
On the 1st and 15th of each month, we send out our Book Club Giveaways email which has 6 books clubs can enter to win and announces the winners of the previous month's giveaway. Each giveaway lasts one month.
Our Book of the Month giveaway is sent out on the 1st of each month and also announces the winners of the previous month's giveaway.
How do we find out if we've won?
Winners are announced in our email newsletters. So be sure to check the emails to see if you've won!
The books will be shipped to the address in your account information within 30 days of the date the email newsletter (so be sure to fill in your mailing address.)
What do we have to do if we win?
We'd like you to submit a review once you've finished reading the book so other clubs can find out if you recommend the book for discussion, but it is by no means a requirement. Mostly, we hope you enjoy the book.
