This book had great potential, but it was slow, dull, and insipid. The main character turned out to be hard to like with some of the antics she resorted to. I thought it would be a fun Roma tic comedy…..it wasn’t!

Arleen enjoyed the book and scored it an 8 out of 10 but unfortunately her written review disappeared between her tablet and my laptop!

An easy to read, amusing book. The idea of a different husband at her whim was a good idea at first. But Lauren soon realised that there was something wrong with each of them. She started changing her husband several times a day. The book ended on a moral nite, which was a nice touch, when Lauren decided to stay with the man she was currently married to, leaving the loft to destroy itself in the fire.
I did enjoy this book, i found it an amusing and relaxing read for Christmas time. Although those who are aware of my marital history will realise why I am not going near the loft any time soon. ???? I will give the book a score of 8

I thought ‘The Husbands’ was fun and definitely quirky, and some of the little behaviour observations really made me smile. The whole “endless husbands” idea was entertaining once you suspend all disbelief, which you absolutely have to do here.
That said, it didn’t completely win me over. The novelty wore off a bit for for me, although overall this was an enjoyable, light read. 7/10

I know The Husbands was just a story but it was a stretch too far for me. It was difficult to imagine all those men coming out of the attic. If the middle part of the book had been shorter it may have helped but it went on too long and I lost interest.
I score it 4

Title interesting concept but a slow burn.
I really wanted to love this book because the premise sounded so unique and intriguing. However, I found myself struggling to get Into the story. For me it was a dnf which is rare.
I give it 3 out of 10

I had mixed feelings about this book. On one hand while I was reading it I found it to be quite funny at times and quite an easy and quick read. However the more we discussed it afterwards the more I thought about how I felt about it. She did annoy me with the fact that she was sending husbands up for unbelievable reasons, sometimes without even seeing or hearing them talk which I thought was extremely shallow. Then when her ex came back down I would have thought she would have sent him straight back up but ended up messing things around with him. She then does really like someone but he ends up going up on his own and I was hoping they would then meet again but the author seemed to get fed up at the end and just decided the husband she barely spoke to would do. It was an intriguing and unique concept but it could have been done so much better like spending more time with the husbands and getting to know them all., It also confused me when the ex husbands started popping up when she was married to another, such as the gardener, and it just seemed to become even more ridiculous. It was an easy to read book but not one I would recommend. I would give it a 6/10

I thought I would enjoy this book more than I did. It started off well, easy to read and well written but the middle section was repetitive and boring, unrealistic and tedious. Unfortunately it did not pick up much after that and the ending was a tad unbelievable. No laugh out loud moments as promised by the cover sadly! I would give it 4 out of 10

Average score 4.5 out of 10
