I really enjoyed the characters in this book, however, the more books I read about the Nazi invasion, I am inclined to believe that Adolf Hitler was a devil. He was not only mean to the Jews of Germany and Poland, but he was mean to his own people. He did nothing short of letting his own people starve to death during his reign of terror.

What a beautiful book! It takes place in Vienna and the coast of England prior to, and during Ww2. Elise, the daughter of an opera singer and a well known author, is sent to England as a house maid, to escape the increasing hardships on the Jewish population in Vienna, no one Jewish is safe! Elise begins a new life in England, while desperately waiting for her parents to escape Vienna. This book was beautifully written, and the descriptions of the English coast and quaint village, Elizabethan manor house and way of life that was quickly changing......read this book!!!
