Our club was mixed in our enthusiasm. Although we had all summer to read the book, almost half had not finished it. They thought it was slow, too detailed and hard to get into. Those of us who had finished it thought it was fascinating. We were most interested in the process of determining the provenance of works of art and the restoration of paintings. The book read more like a novel than a non-fiction title. I would say that the half who didn't finish would give it a 3 star; those who finished would give it 4 or 5.
