The various conflicts presented were not as much cultural as societal: older woman/younger man; poor maid/rich son. Poorly written; read like a sad diary.

This book is part of the Book Bag program at the Omaha Public Library, but no one in our group of 12 liked the book or felt that it was a good book group selection. Plot and character development are lacking.

It was an insightful book into a life of a modern Muslim woman living in Europe after leaving Sudan.
Watching her come to grips with her faith and how it sustained her through romance and family and keeping her traditions in a modern setting was interesting.
