"A wonderful story of a friendship that transcends generations" by Wendy56 (see profile) 09/17/07

Astrid and Veronika are two women that forge an unlikely bond of friendship that transcends generations. As they each try to hide from their painful past, they find in each other a confidante. As their friendship grows, they are able to unburden themselves of the secrets and pain of their past relationships. Once unburdened they are able to discard the chains of unhappiness and begin to live again.

I thought the book was rather dull. No drama between the two women. It just didn't go anywhere

"In a small village in Sweden 2 women meet and what happens is a story this story" by minouch (see profile) 03/04/08

I love this book it is powerful, gripping, has gruesome things happen and fun.For me this is what the world is coming too a world where neighbors dont know one an other a world where people talk behind your back but are scared to talk to you. The story and the setting are perfect. A small village walking distance from shops etc two house set close but not too close. One empty and one not. The trip, the bad weather, the getting to know you house and surroundings.
People meet only after they think there is an emergency. The growing of friendship and trust is amazing.........

A must read.
I will read it again .
This book will stay in my library.

"A moving slice of life" by WPLWBC (see profile) 03/05/08

Generally, we found it shocking (the murder of Astrid's baby) and felt it left many unanswered questions. We liked the friendship theme, and someone coming into your life when you really need them. A moving slice of life about two lonely people who find each other.

"enjoyed the relationship and the back story thru the seasons" by dswiley (see profile) 11/20/08

I enjoyed the relationship between Astrid and Veronika.  The back story and how the author weaved the seasons and the passing of time and grief together was moving, and sometimes uncomfortable.

"A Beautiful Story" by dianeo (see profile) 05/18/10

This is one of my favorite books of 2010 so far! It is beautifully written. Linda Olsson has such talent in captivating the reader, with gracious descriptions of both characters and place.
I will keep this close at hand and recommend it to all my friends and family. A must read!
