"Slow at first but a good read" by ewodzak (see profile) 05/04/11

This book started out slow for me but it picks up and was very suspenseful in the second half. Abby's husband, John, dies while deployed in Iraq. She soon finds out that it may have been someone in his platoon that killed him. The story covers lots of different relationships: Abby and her in-laws, how the in-laws and their children relate with each other, and different people in the military. People in the story have different views on whether the US military should be in Iraq. Along with the relationships is the story of Abby and her friends Suz and Flint digging into what really happened to John. While you learn early on who the killer is, the suspense is finding out how crazy the guy is and what he is capable of. There is also a small supernatural aspect to the story which was a little hokey for me but it didn't ruin the story. I stayed up late to finish this one.

Great subject. First third of book is compelling then it gets a bit over the top but overall a very good book from a true story. Book provided very good conversation at the discussion meeting.
