We really enjoyed this book. We enjoyed the author's descriptive style and the interplay of characters. It left us wondering what happened to everyone and wishing it would be made into a movie. It made for a good discussion.
The main character is a strong woman and the story is historically significant. I enjoyed it.
This book generated lengthy discussion, particularly about about the experience of being an immigrant then and today. We liked the characters because they were believable.
