This is a well-written scholarly book about the life of Eleanor of Aquitane who became the Queen of France and later, Queen of England. The book contains maps, illustrations, pictures, a bibliography, notes on the chief sources, notes and references, genealogical tables, an index and a reader's guide. It's a great book for someone interested in European history, but not a great book for the average book club. I gave the book one star as a book club read. Its appeal is to a narrow audience and best read on an individual basis.
