At first I really enjoyed this book, i liked the way it moved through the times and finding out when the characters met previously In their past
After a while, I found it dragged a bit. I did look up some reviews in the end as I was not sure where it was going. Towards the end, I found it rather deep - concentrating on the war and battlefields. I did enjoy the book mostly and feel I would like to read it again. It's a good idea with interesting characters. I would give it a 5.

I enjoyed reading this book. I thought Eve's guilt over her sister's death and why she wanted to travel back in time was a good start to the story. The hotel was amazing and I iked the idea of going through a door into a different time and place. The time travelling was a bit confusing but it didn't seem to matter, it was still a lovely book.
Score 8.

I am not a fan of fantasy novels so sadly this one held no appeal for me . I did read to the end and found the closing chapters the best of the book.
I give it 4.

I enjoyed the start of the book, and thought it was well written. I was intrigued by the idea of the hotel, and enjoyed the parts of the story set during wartime. However, about half way through I began to find the jumping around from era to era confusing, and by the end I felt that the story had become overly complex. I did finish it but didn’t feel particularly satisfied! 5/10

This book has got to be one of my favourites I have read for book club!! The storyline is definitely one of a kind and I loved the way Alexandra took us through the years and seeing the changes in the hotel through them. I thought it was extremely well written and her excellent writing skills really brought the story to life. I was completely invested and absorbed in it and considering its size I managed to read it over just 2 days. I loved meeting Eve and Max and my heart broke for them both. Eve because she was just a child when her sister was killed and yet spent her whole life blaming herself and Max for what he went through in the War. I really enjoyed going on the scavenger hunt with Eve and discovering all the different and fascinating rooms in the hotel. The story had something for everyone from magic to romance, mystery to escapism. There were a few times where I had to go back and double check what year I was in but I didn't find that doing so spoiled any part of the story as it was just double checking for my own confirmation really. It looks like the rest of Alexandra's books are children's books but I would definitely be interested in seeing what future books she was to write for adults. I would give this one a 10!

I found this book very hard to get in to but I stuck with it. Once I got into it I found the characters interesting and intriguing. This book differently keeps you on your toes and you really have to follow it. When Eve has that deja vu feeling like we have all had at some point it was really fantastic me. I love the mystery, magic and love in this book. I do believe we all get second chances in life.
I would give this book 6/10.

After a rather confusing start I really enjoyed this book. I thought the premise was really unusual and the story was so well written. The characters were very well described and developed and I particularly enjoyed the sections dealing with the first World War although I could perhaps have done with a little less jumping periods. Although this is not a genre I usually enjoy I thought this book was an exception to that rule. Very easy to read once you suspend your disbelief and very enjoyable. I give it 7 out of 10.
