An interesting exploration of the Inquistion and its effects on the Jewish people of Spain, including the conversos. Character development was not well done and the ending was not satisfying.

Too many mediocre historical novels are published these days. By Fire, By Water stands out. A big canvas, but you really fall in love with the main characters. The accolades are well deserved. In our group, we had a lively discussion and learned a lot.
