I thought the book was just OK. Horses seemed to have more dimension than the characters. Maybe would have been more interesting if it showed perspectives from the different characters viewpoints other than Thea's.
I read this for book club. Wish I had back the time I spent reading this. Characters were one dimensional except the main character who was contradictory and not believable. The sections about horseback riding were well drawn; obviously the author has a lot of knowledge of this subject.
This book was full of difficult, complex characters who were not easy to like. There was, however, a lot for our club to discuss!
