Our group was very excited to read this book since it was this year’s Nobel Prize for Literature winner. But no one ended up liking it. In fact, only one person bothered to finish it! It was very disjointed, fragmented, and did not live up to all the hype. Although it was extremely well written in sections, it dragged. Better to cut out a lot of the author’s random thoughts and stick to the “stories” - Bill it as a short story collection instead of a novel.

"Not an easy read" by Niknic (see profile) 02/04/20

I enjoy a difficult read, but I completely agree with disjointed that this is not a good choice for most book clubs. I did choose 'Inspiring' for one of my adjectives, but that was solely because I love to travel, and I did appreciate the author's views as someone moving freely about the globe. And some of the stories were very good, but the rest of the book was extremely slow; it took me two months to read, and my book club had to extend our date to meet. I expect that only 1 person out of our 8 really liked this book.
