The information laid out in the book is hard to believe at times. It will certainly open your eyes to the experience of being born female is like for a large portion of the world's females.

Although difficult to read of the horrors in our world, the impact will forever change my allotment of charitable time and money towards helping free more women globally from torture.

This was a very difficult book to get through. There is a lot of information about the plight of women around the world. The stories are graphic and disturbing but it certainly gives you a different perspective about life in various countries. Overall, it is worth reading and does make some concrete suggestions about what can be done to help and agencies that are making a difference.

"A Woman's worth" by JesaKrist (see profile) 10/01/12

Reading about other women's experiences is heart breaking and hope inspiring. We are all able for to change and to help others.

"Excellent book, a must read for everyone, tragic." by jaegeral (see profile) 04/11/13

This was an excellent book - it is non-fiction so be prepared for that - the stories woven in provide an opportunity to connect to the characters but much of it is statistical and fact based. Covering such a wide are of human rights issues, it\\\'s a long read but I found it to be very well written with hope woven through every page.

Very well researched, eye opening and graphic book about oppression of women around the world and how things can and must change.

"Compelling and important" by Alison8641 (see profile) 01/30/14

There are things happening in the world that everyone should know about. While this book is a tough read content wise for some, others found it inspiring and worth the effort. By highlighting the real life stories of women surviving and most often thriving after atrocities perpetrated on them, this book shows what powers women have to change the world.
