WHAT THEY DID FOR LOVE is a book of articles about what people have done for love, be it romantic love, friendly love, or love for an animal. Because this book was compiled by the Readers Digest Association, I assume that each of these articles has appeared sometime in the Readers Digest magazine.

My interest in WHAT THEY DID FOR LOVE began when I read one of Chris Bohjalian's books, THE JACKAL'S MISTRESS, historical fiction that takes place during the Civil War in which a southern woman finds a severely wounded Union officer and nurses him back to health. This was based on a true story that Bohjalian wrote about several years ago for the Readers Digest magazine. A librarian found the article for me in this book. Then I was curious about the other stories as well.

They are all nice stories, nonfiction. I didn't intend to read them, but I'm glad I did.
