"The book was a look at the journey of 3 women as they come to learn more about themselves and their dreams." by rkdavis (see profile) 09/22/06

I enjoyed the book. I could relate to the characters' dream of wanting more than a successful career. It was an easy read with a few surprises and somewhat predictable ending.

"Three professional African American women make a "vow" to marry within a year." by eveanbury (see profile) 09/23/06

This book develops some interesting characters, but towards the middle of the book the characters are so busy trying to make the vow "happen" for them, that they don't use their heads as much as their emotions. I found some of the scenarios, that the characters get themselves into, to be a bit unrealistic. I also felt that the end of the book was somewhat predictable and that the authors wanted to make the characters and the readers "happy". Nice sentiment, but the causes would not lead to the "convenient" happiness that the characters achieved. However, the book does spark interesting discussion topics for any book club.
