The voice was grumpy and one I did not necessarily relate to or agree with. It did get better towards the end.

I guess that tells you how "into" this book I was. I felt untouched by this story. Maybe this was because the woman was British or maybe because I felt no empathy for her. I am in a similar age group and marital status but it was boring!
