We selected this book because we live just a few miles from Jarrettsville, MD. We couldn't have been happier with it... Jarrettsville is an amazing story, ripped from history. The author does an excellent job of making you really feel what a hot, sticky Maryland summer feels like. Her character development is superb. The story jumps off the page. I especially loved the notes in the back of the book detailing the actual newspaper articles and historical timelines.

Our group gave this book a B+. Thoroughly enjoyed the historical avenues the author took. Brought to mind what those times were like and the things people do to survive. Good book club selection.
