"A few books need to be read by ALL people of all ages and gender. This is one of them." by sdgorton (see profile) 07/19/08

We had a great discussion laced with lively comments and tears. I believe every person present had something of value to contribute!
It was only my second meeting as a member of NYMBC and encourages me to look forward to all the coming books and meetings.
This book is one of the greats. It will touch every person who reads it. Some events in history need to be recorded from the personal participation accounts of those involved and this is so well written and such an easy read. And such a great way to take in a great big bite of history, without choking on it!

"First person accounts of World War II" by stillwalkn (see profile) 07/21/08

Views were varied from thoroughly enjoyable to not very interesting. Many members who lived during World War II found the book more enjoyable, while younger members expressed the opinion that the book lacks relevance in a post-2001 era. Some readers found the author's tone preachy. A good source of first person accounts from that time in history.
