Started off with a 12 year old boy living in a dysfunctional family and ended with a dysfunctional young man. Themes of abuse, eating disorders, addiction.

This is an aching love letter to his mother- a complicated relationship and the journey that Kiese forged forward in an often hostile world. This is an incredible work of intimate vulnerability that left me wanting to read more from him.
