The main character is cold, pretentious, and ultimately unbelievable, which made it difficult to connect with or care about the story. Instead of feeling layered or compelling, she comes across as emotionally flat and self-important, and the plot drags because of it. “Boring” honestly sums up much of the experience.
The political commentary also felt forced and unnecessary. Rather than serving the story or developing the character in a meaningful way, it seemed awkwardly inserted for effect. The references came across as shallow and distracting, pulling attention away from the narrative instead of adding depth. Overall, the book felt more interested in signaling viewpoints than telling an engaging story.
