I found this story to be flat. The characters were more caricatures than fully developed people. There was no insight gained into the relationship between Lombard and Gable nor into the making of GONE WITH THE WIND. This was a disappointing read on so many levels.

maybe 3.5 Not a deep book but interesting. Julie Crawford leaves Indiana and goes to Hollywood to be a screenwriter. Amazingly enough she becomes friends with Carole Lombard who is also from her home town. She find herself on the set of GONE WITH THE WIND as Carole hires her to be her assistant. Which draws her into the world Carole shares with Clark Gable. Its an interesting story as Julie becomes involved with one of the production assistants on GWTW who is also Jewish -- which brings in the the world history going on at that time as well. Not very deep but not a bad read.

"Gone With a Puff" by [email protected] (see profile) 06/15/17

This is a corny love story lacking any insight into the many serious issues (e.g.anti-Semitism, racial discrimination against blacks, unconscionable wartime greed and hypocrisy) it glosses over. "A Touch of Stardust" is feather light book. Any substance gleaned in from its reading is soon gone with a puff. The use of the filming of "Gone with the Wind" as backdrop is ironic because if you juxtapose the literary value of the two books, one star for "A Touch of Stardust" is one star too many.
