As one who has owned a business in the weight loss industry, as well as having waged my own battle with 'THE CHUB', I loved this book! It was unique in many ways. The heroine, Plum, is waiting to begin her 'real' life after bariatric surgery. The events that take place after she schedules this surgery take the reader on a wild ride of pathos, hilarity & intrigue. The cast of characters go about turning the diet & fashion industries upside down, while asking us to take another look at our society's values and messages to both me & women. Enjoy!

Very thought provoking book about an individual (Plum) who is described as morbidly obese and how this fact ruled her life until she met someone that opened her eyes. I was confused by a sudden plot twist that seemed out of place at first but my confusion was quickly resolved. Fast passed and wanted more. I didn't give it 5 stars as it was very one sided regarding women's reproductive rights, without considering the alternative position.

I started this book thinking it would be the story of a woman's journey regarding her weight loss. Instead, I was the one on the journey. This was an eye opening book, not just on the unfairness women endure today, just as much as we ever have, but on how women don't even realize how badly we are treated. One of the greatest lessons learned from this book was that women who are least attractive (to men) see the "real" side of most men. I found the book to be extremely interesting and it had a lot of valid points. I would recommend it. It definitely made for great discussion!

A very dark, yet revealing look into the violence of dieting and the correlation between dieting and other forms of oppression. It's worth it to stick with this novel, even though language and graphic description may be offensive.
