Suchi and Haiween were soul mates, or so they thought. Growing up as teenagers together in Shanghai in the late 1940’s they fell in love and knew they would spend their lives together. Fate had other plans. Haiween enlists in the Nationalist Army leaving Suchi a note that only say “Forgive me”. She is sent away by her parents to keep her safe. They both never give up up hope that someday they will be together again, until, as the years pass they realize they must go on with their lives. Then, sixty years later they have a chance meeting.
I would have given this beautiful story five stars if had been written in chronological order, because there are so many different places and times frames it was, at times difficult to keep track of the story.
