I have traveled to Italy twice, and therefore was interested in learning more about Michelangelo and his works. The author provides a thorough historical and personal background for each of the selected masterpieces, in the process painting a three-dimensional portrait of the artist. It makes me appreciate Michelangelo even more. I only wish there had been more and better pictures with the text.
