A very enjoyable read, with terrrific character development, and vivid description lending to use of many of the readers senses, which was interesting, indeed! I was sorry when I finished the book!

Engaging from the first page! A heart wrenching yet beautiful story of women, survival, love and war. Also a great book for discussion.

This is a well written book that really lets you peek into the lives of Nisrina and her family. While it is a work of fiction, you still come away with a better understanding of the role family placed in society at the time as well as the role of women. The universal thread that links us all is love and family whether it be the family we are born into or the family of our making.
