A very simple but graphic depiction of San Francisco\\\'s alternative life in the 1800s. You need to be alert when reading the books as Emma Donoghue changes from past to present often.She brooches many \\\'confronting\\\' topics quite graphically, but I think this is part of the book\\\'s charm. I definitely enjoyed the twists in the story line.
