After discussion with my club I came to appreciate some of the ideas and characters. It helped to see other view points and think about how we all grow up and come to be who we are.

I was unaware of this part of our history. I loved how the author weaved the story between the two main characters and brought the reader to realize what an important yet eventful time in America.

Strong woman in the 1800s who would inspires everyone to always do your best and be a faithful person. Learned about the land around the Delta during this time and how difficult it was just to survive.
