Children of the Jacaranda Tree

I can't believe how good this book is. So well written, so emotional, so informative. It is a story that was on my mind for a long time after I finished it. I enjoyed Sahar Delijani’s descriptive phrases. One that I especially liked: “…smelling of wood dust and expectation.” I can only say—this story is outstanding, I loved it and it should be number one for 2013.

Tigers in Red Weather

Our group received \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Tigers in Red Weather\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" as a giveaway from BookMovement. We were impressed with the lovely cover, but sadly the content didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t match the cover. One member mentioned that characters were overflowing with booze. Whatever happened to the murderers? Another member wished the characters weren\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t so unattached to each other and hurtful in their constant coversations--too much talking and not enough doing. Other members agreed the book was interesting just to find how it ended.

A wonderfully told story with generations of family and their entwined lives in Afghanistan and following throughout other countries as their decisions affect many of the family and friends. There are many characters giving book clubs much to discuss.
