Literally I found myself laughing out loud while I read this - and many times! It's irreverant and there are parts where you think its too ridiculous but then I thought - no, I know people just like this. It also makes you recognize that families often aren't "normal" and we all have a little crazy in us and that we should celebrate that.
I saw the movie first and enjoyed it and I always look for the book to provide the depth that a movie can't quite achieve. I did not feel this book did that at all. That's why my title - you might as well save yourself the reading time for something better and just watch the movie.
I liked it but it was slow and I found myself not truly wanting to get back to reading but more like I felt I had to for the book club. Just didn't grab me the way I like a book to do.
