My Reviews

Boring, Inspiring, Slow
Not my cup of tea. The 'plot' narcissistic and the writing difficult.

Our club just finished this book last week. The general consensus was that the author was over emotional and self absorbed through most of the book. Her year's journey was both physical and emotional and she became more likable in 'Indonesia'. We found many chapters that made us stop and think about the 'truths' she was finding and apply them to ourselves. Her writing style left some of us irritated and some enjoyed it. We would recommend it with reservations.

Katherine by Anya Seton

Beautifully written story behind the British royal families in the 14th century.

Highly recommend this book. Historically accurate and romantic it engendered much discussion as to how it was pertinent to todays politics and social mores.

Dramatic, Interesting, Insightful
Not a keeper

This was not a book that we would save to read again.

Escape by Carolyn Jessop, Laura Palmer

Informative, Dramatic, Interesting
Eye opening account of life within a fundamentalist cult.

A timely read after the Texas raid and subsequent court judgements; this is a gripping story of one woman's enlightenment and escape. It was hard to believe that this could happen here in the United States in these times.

An American Childhood by Annie Dillard

Childhood recollections of growing up in the 50's.

Not worth the time it took to plow through this book. It was unanimously disliked by the group and, in fact, only 2 members read the whole book..
