Memoir of now sucessful MSNBC correspondent's dysfunctional childhood

A great read. The pages fly by as you keep hope alive for this family's tragic life to make a turn for the better. Excellent for discussions with close knit book clubs.

Great book for discussion on multiple levels due to involvement of family issues, racial issues, and poverty.

A dramatic review of an old man looking back at his past with the circus

A fabulous book! Riveting--Gruen can sustain a readers interest. Great discussion book.

Our club found this book hard to wade through. There were so many topics touched upon ever so briefly, but the reader was left with many questions. Perhaps that was the author's intention...
