Chris Cleave is a great writer but this book in no way matched Little Bee. The plot was very intricate like Cleave's previous book and offered a couple of twists but mostly it felt very contrived.

This story was beautifully told - the imagery of the Janus Rock and township, the remoteness and personal struggles of each character were vivid and engaging. The story was emotional and very sad at times but it is a credit to the author that it could be so moving. I would highly recommend this book.
