My Reviews
An honest, authentic, intelligent story about teenagers being teenagers...who just so happen to also be living with cancer. Not your typical "cancer book"- Green somehow manages to infuse wit & comedy into every chapter without being disingenuous or cheesy. As an Indianapolis native, I also loved the hometown references!
Before I Fall is the story of a typical high school "mean girl" who, when killed in an accident, is forced to re-live her last day 7 times in a row a la Groundhog Day. I generally enjoy reading about teenagers but struggled a bit with this one; I found some of the plot lines a bit predictable & a few of the characters one-dimensional. There is one plot line surrounding a romantic relationship that I thought was the most engaging, but probably just because one of the participating characters was my favorite character overall from the book.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure just how much there will be to truly discuss. We'll see!
