Perfect title...at times sad and at times so sweet...uniquely set during a tense period of American History...insight into the personal lives of the people that lived during that era...we were amazed at the loyalty of the American Japanese citizens even after having been treated so shabbily... we all love books that tie up loose ends and this one does...it also leaves you wondering at the end of the book about possibilities.
A gripping tale of the plight of women in the Middle East. Raw detail of their treatment by the men. Their courage in supporting each other with supreme sacrifice.
The book was just okay....not awful, but not a great read. Some interesting characters, sometimes difficult to follow due to the change in time. One happy ending and the other keeps you wondering.
The author grabs you on the first page and doesn't let go. A lot of interesting characters, but the content of the crimes is very disturbing.
