My Reviews
Dr. Gawande, through personal stories and historical background of changes in senior care, shows how he learned to move from being authoritative, paternalistic then more informative, and finally interpretive in giving care.
Our book group ranging from ages 60-85, with several widows in the group, endorsed this book as an excellent way of approaching doctors, medical care, hospice, and end of life care. It may be a tough book to read as far as the thoughts that will challenge you, but your caregivers and your family would benefit from the information shared and the discussion was priceless.
