It definitely was a marriage of opposites. Interesting information about growing up in St. Thomas in the 1800's & being Jewish. Enjoyed learning about Camille Pissaro , the artist. I would recommend it to those who enjoy "magical thinking."
I felt that the book was too confusing trying to keep the 3 different narrators and their stories separate. There were 23 women at out discussion; half liked the book, had did not like the book. The discussion did help answer some of the questions I had reading the book. I do think the author is a gifted writer. It was a very lively discussion.
I felt the book was written but depressing. Books about taking recreational drugs never reads well written. Author was very descriptive
