My Reviews
"The Next Thing on My List" is a lighthearted tale of a woman who is stuck in a life-rut and is presented with a unique opportunity to change direction by fulfilling the dreams of another woman who died before she could achieve them for herself. What a richer life we might all have if we had a list of all the experiences we would like to have and then we went out and had them!
The Book Thief was the first Zusak novel I read and I just fell in love with his writing. I found The Messenger to not only be a uniquely clever story but also an interesting view into the evolution of Zusak as a writer.
I liked the book for a quick personal read that was a change of pace for me. Wouldn't recommend as a club choice though.

Strong female lead character. My big takeaway: how the imbalance of power can be overlooked by the powerful and devastating to the powerless.
But when I had to, I picked this up and was not disappointed!
I read all three books consecutively over a week's time and felt like I couldn't get enough. BUT the last few chapters of this last book seemed to wander around looking for a way to end the story. I recommend it because it closes out the series and does make for good discussion about storyline structure.
I liked the book for a quick personal read but not meaty enough for a club choice
Recommend for committed clubs as it is a long book that should be discussed progressively.
