Unbroken: A WWII Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I couldn't stop reading it because I needed to find out what happened next (thus, the love) but the content wanted me to hate people, situations, and war. I fell in love with the characters. The book isn't written particularly well. It's choppy and I found myself skimming parts of it. I now understand why my dad wouldn't talk much about his time in Germany during the war and why Viet Nam vets that I know don't want to talk about that war either. It helped me understand a culture but I'm grappling with forgiveness even though the characters displayed it. It's worth reading and I'd have not done so without my book group!!
