How I felt when I finished the book. These characters are despicable. there are not any redeemable qualities. they are a train wreck.
Cobin has written much more engaging stories than this one.
I loved the interweaving of the 4 stories that tell this interesting and heart- wrenching story.
The \"do -gooders\" knew that they were often placing children in less than pleasant situations but still felt that they were doing the right thing and that the children should feel grateful that they were not in an orphanage. The human spirit of these children was able to survive and in the end to succeed inspire of their situation.
The women had great stories but the writing did not bring them to life.
