The author is gifted in so many ways. I was laughing one minute and in tears the next. As someone who suffers with depression, although not to the extent the author does, and mine manifests in different ways, I could relate to so many of her situations.
Doyle's writing has a lyrical voice to it. I thoroughly enjoyed Mink River. The characters were flawed, normal human beings just trying to do their best in the world. Each of them played a part in another person's story--just like we do in real life.
A deeply touching book about the gift of friendship.
Excellent history as well as current day depiction of the people and places of Montana.
The characters came alive for me. At times I envied Circe and then suddenly I’d feel sorry for her. I can easily see this as a movie.
The characters come alive and are likeable and unlikeable. I love all of Backman’s books!
And tell everyone you know to read it. We have to stop these obvious injustices in America.
To go through what Tara Westover went through and to come out of it with a PhD and any sort of self-confidence is nothing short of miraculous.
