Guest of Honor: Booker T. Washingtonm Theodore Roosevelt and the White House Dinner That Shocked a Nation by Deborah Davis

I really enjoyed the book. I learned the personal histories of two men that left a huge legacy individually and together took a notable step forward in America's race relations. It seems so mundane from today's perspective, but realizing that it occurred only 35 years after the end of the Civil War, it's inspiring to see two people willing to move forward. I thought Deborah Davis did an excellent job constructing the back drop for the dinner so that by the time it happens, the reader has an appreciation for the impact it carried throughout the nation at the time.

Dear Husband: Stories by Joyce Carol Oates

Gloomy, Pointless, Dark
Dear Husband

If you want a book to keep you company while you slit your wrists this would be a great companion. This was a depressing book. These short stories read like the most depraved items your hear on the 6:00 oclock news with little imagination or creativity on the back stories. The characters were flat. I feel sorry for Joyce Carol if this is all she can produce.
