The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

This well written informative, yet heartwrenching, work brings information unknown to my world. It made me think, think, think about the lives of others in a way that I had not before. Such an eye opener.

The Isle of Palms

I liked the general message of the book and did finish reading it. My reading group liked it as well. I thought it poorly written in that it was too much, "and now she opened the door" or too detailed with unimportant things for the plot...I found myself skipping many paragraphs after reading the first sentence. I will probably not read this author again, but several in my book club read all her books....so to each his own.

The Nest Thing on My List

It was a good choice for a busy month since it is shorter than some. Not everyone in the club liked the book, but most did. We liked the struggle to think of ways to complete the more difficult items on the list. We liked that the romantic side story was not predictable...come out as we all thought it might. We liked the development of the one "mystery item" on the list and how and when it was finally accomplished. So while the subject of the book was not "fun", the way the story developed was fun.

Thought provoking .

I would recommend this book simply because it made for a really good discussion. Some in the group really liked it, some thought it confusing, some did not like it at all. Hence, much good discussion.

The invention of wings

This is a book that should be read by all 11th and 12th grade girls. We need young women to know where we have come from and understand our past.

Everyone in our group really liked this book and found it worth reading. It lends itself to a great discussion of so many things.
