An entertaining tale with glimpses into life in the Southwest a century ago. A pleasant read, but not a lot more

Interesting
Well written, but strange in many ways

As usual, McEwan writes magnificently, but this book is quite unlike most of his others. It is full of satire, irony and a despicable main character.
