I had never realised how the Guernsey Islanders suffered during WW2 or how long the island was occupied. The use of letters let you step inside the characters and allowed relationships to grow over time. A quick, easy and addictive read...as well as being interesting and informative. Would recommend it

Only one word needed to describe this book - barking! I am a bit of a baa humbug so it was courageous of the book club to give me the choice of our first christmas read. No Christmas Carol for us - I thought I would pick something a bit different and I certainly succeeded - Murder and Zombies are not your usual christmas fayre. Saying that, I like Chris Moore's light-hearted if somewhat weird writing style and imagination. Don't overanalyse this one. Enjoy it, share a glass of mulled wine and mince pie with your book club buddies and enjoy the range of views it will elicit.
