My Reviews

Poorly Written, Unconvincing, Interesting
A Thin Line Between Love and Homicide

Lots of grammar errors. Too many things happening that don't go together at all. Would make a good rough draft instead of a book. Author needs to research the subject matter more to make the book believeable.

Dramatic, Interesting, Dark
The Story of Edgar Sawtell

This book contained a lot symbolism and I couldn't figure out a lot of it. It's a dark story and I thought it was hard to follow. Some of the "secrets" of the family were not clearly revealed to me even though the characters in the story seemed to have figured some of them out. It wasn't the type of story I was expecting.

Informative, Interesting, Graphic
Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution

This book was a little difficult to read. The writing style made it a little hard to understand some of the events that were taking place during the Revolution. The characters were interesting. I assumed the book would focus more on Madame Tussard's work, instead of the French history, which seemed to be the main subject.

Informative, Slow, Insightful
The Zookeepers Wife

Not the type of story I expected to read. I thought it would be more personal but there were a lot of drawn out explanations about animal species and the countryside. Many characters were introduced but there was very little interaction between them. The book was written more as "just the facts" rather than a story of a family's life during a horrible time in history.

Boring, Inspiring, Slow
Eat, Pray Love

This book seemed to go on and on and not say anything. It was boring and hard to read. The only reason I finished it was because it was our book club choice for the month.

Gloomy, Difficult, Dramatic
Messenger:The Legacy of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and Heartsongs

The book was very depressing. Although Mattie was a very inspiring little boy and I admire him and his mother, the book could have left out some of the detailed medical treatments and concentrated on his accomplishments.

The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder

Book Club Recommended
Insightful, Interesting, Dramatic
The Bridge of San Luis Rey

At first I wasn't too sure about the book. But, the more you read the better it gets. Our book club really got into deep discussion as the book brought out many personal issues.

Inspiring, Beautiful, Insightful
Not Very Interesting

This was mainly letters written back and forth between the author and Fred Rogers. Although it does show the friendship between the two, I still got a little bored with it.
