My Reviews
A fun, easy read that had some great characters. Also set in Ireland, which is a little apart from the norm. Very enjoyable.
This is the first book that I have read by this author. I liked the style of writing, however it sometimes became confusing and I had to re-check which character was writing each chapter. The topic of the book was very thought provoking and interesting, however there were parts of the book that I felt were irrelevant or added little to the story. However, overall it was a great read on an interesting topic.
Title of the book does not seem relevant for starters. I have read another book by this author and enjoyed it, but this was a disappointment. The characters were likeable and there was very little point to the whole storyline in my opinion.
A little confusing to begin with, as several characters and I had to re-check a few times as to who was who. It also took about a third of the way through the book to really get into it and for the letters to get beyond niceties. Great subject matter though and I found the German occupation of Guernsey very interesting to read about.
A fun, light-hearted read about families and sibling rivalry. Enjoyable reading.
I liked this much more than I thought I would. An easy read, but with well developed characters and plenty of little twists to keep it interesting.
Very thought provoking book that will generate a lot of discussion. A great read around an interesting theme, written from several different perspectives. Some of the language was unneccessarily crass in my opinion and not representative of how most Australians talk though.
A nice enough story about community and interwoven characters, but nothing memorable.
A fantastic story about generations of women, most born into slavery. A fascinating look at the hardships of that time.
A nice enough read with some good characters.
Very slow, very wordy and very boring.
