I really enjoyed reading this book. Not only did it give me an insight of what segragation was like in the first hand, but handed me a little history in a very interesting and captivating way. I just loved George and his approach to life. He is a very inspiring and stoic individual and I just couldn't wait to see what life presented to him next. Obviously they couldn't cover his entire life and left me wondering about the 'inbetween years' from his first marriage to when he is 98 yrs old.
But overall - fantastic. A lovely book to read for something a little different.
My entire book group HATED this book. What a load of dribble really. Was difficult to read due to her boring banter that never seemed to go anywhere. The Bali chapter is really the only chapter tolerable and even then you feel like hitting her over the head with her own book!!
I really enjoyed getting locked into this book. The story is not only interesting but informative too. The kind of book where you come away and feel that it was really worth your time. The characters were involving and would recommend to all!
It was easy to immediately get taken into this story. The story taught me alot of what life may have been like for women in Afganistan and they definately have my sympathy in this particular case. You really become involved in the events and I found it hard to put down at night (even when my eyes were half closed!)
