Wonderfully written and at times you can't believe it's a true story. Inspired by Jeannette and her siblings but angry at her selfish parents for their ability to provide better for their children - however, amazing life lessons the children ultimately receive and their strength and resolve for survival.
This story was unconvincing - it's 1907 - and yes, this is fiction, but how is possible that all of this could come together is very unlikely? The sex - please - boring! My least favorite of all of our book club reads.
Loved this book - have loaned it out to several friends who agree it's a winner. A tad disappointed with the ending but felt it left room for a sequel. Bring out your pom poms - you'll find your favorite characters to cheer for. Will not disappoint.
